Thread: control arm same as wish bone??

    Default control arm same as wish bone??

    evening all! i have had a ongoing problem which it seems reading threads others had to where the suspension knocks when going over speed bumps or pot holes, enough is enough so i have ordered a drop link and arb bush for the front offside(may as well do both).hoping after fitting noise with stop, the other noise from what i have reaserched on this site could be the control arm is this the same as a wish bone?? is there a how to on fitting for the front?have seen there is a thread for the rear.also phoned stealers to get prices drop link was £14.40, arb bush was £2.29 but i was gobsmacked the control arm or wish bone is £169.00 does this sound the right money?? please help

    we call them lower controll arms or wishbones at volvo either way i know what bits the service reception mean lol!

    HI mate, it depends, there are upper and lower control arms at the back. Normally it'll be the upper control arms that need replacing as the rose bushes eventually wear. These are around £70 each from VX, but you can find them on Ebay for around £35 each. Its best to get the ARB at the rear changed at the same time.

    need help with the front o/s back is fine is there a how 2 on fitting this or a pic anywhere?

    An upper control arm is a different part alltogether to the lower wishbone,UCA cost about £35 each m8,and the symptoms are a knocking sound when going round corners or over speed bumps etc.
