Following on from this thread, I ended up ordering the Xbox 360 Elite console to upgrade from my 20Gb one. Ordered it on Friday from Amazon and it arrived Saturday.
I'd been kicking myself initially as I'd 'dithered' in ordering it at the beginning of the week with one thing and another and when I came to order it it'd gone back up from £190 to £210 for the console part.
However, by dithering I actually ended up with a better deal. They still had the WEP pack (white wireless controller and Lego Indy Jones and Kung Fu Panda) for a tenner so got that. They also had the Resident Evil WEP where you got a black controller and RE5 for a tenner (how the hell do they manage to sell it at that price?). RE5 hadn't struck me as my sort of game but even if I didn't like it, a tenner for a black wireless controller was still a bargain and I could always trade RE5 in.
So it all duly arrived and I got it all cabled up and wired in and fired up RE5 and as i thought it wasn't my cup of tea. I like first person shooters but all the zombies, blood and guts isn't my preference for a game really - so off I went to Game to trade it in. As it had only been released the day before it must've been one of the fastest trade-ins Anyway, I got £25 trade-in for it so in the end (taking that into account) I got the Elite console, extra white wireless controller (plus the two games) and black wireless controller for £205 - only a fiver more than the package I was going to get earlier in the week when the console was £20 less, so the black controller basically ended up costing me only a fiver. Happy man.
One thing I wanted the Elite/120Gb drive for was to be able to transfer the games to the hard drive for much quieter operation. It is sooooo much quieter with that method, so when the volume is turned down to not disturb sleeping babies and wife upstairs, I can still hear the sound without the console sat there whoosing away. Bliss.
Not to be outdone, Mrs D had always toyed with getting a Wii and we were in Tescos on Sunday. We had almost £100 in Clubcard vouchers so decided to stick those towards it and walked out with a Wii! Now got it all wired in and Mrs D now happy as well.
Now we just have to 'fight' over which console gets turned on when we have some game time.
