is it a repetitive noise, or just a single clunk when pulling away ?

Sounds stupid but it could be your radiator...

I had exactly the same problem, horrible rattling clatter when pulling away slowly but not at other times. Spent ages thinking the clutch was knackered or I had a faulty engine mount.

In the end I popped the bonnet up and started tapping things to see what made the noise, slapped my hand against the front of the radiator and there was a horrible rattle! Turns out that part of the plastic fan-surround (back of radiator, passenger side) wasn't supported properly and was banging against the metal. Got a small wooden wedge, jammed it between the metal and plastic and bingo, no more noise! Don't think the thing was actually faulty, just a bit of a crappy design.
