    Angry warranty companies

i am not very happy, the warranty company say it is wear and tear, the joint went with no warning and split the housing, how can they say this is wear and tear,it is very rare an inner cv joint will actualy wear out, this is mechanical faliure as it did not happen over a period of several months, the boot is the original and is in good condition,i now have to pay out for a new cv joint, and a £49 diognostic charge despite i already knew the cv joint was at fault but they would not take my word for it,so at the moment i am not very happy

im with warranty direct,if this means my problem is wear and tear then if say my starter or alternator was to fail they could claim that was wear and tear as well so this warranty is a waste of money

Had the same thing, im sure it was with them... if they are based in petersfield, hants. As they change their name due to some negative PR.

Brought a 2nd hand car, from a local garage, brought the 5star service. less then 1star you get.

I had to reported a fault, their words....
"if its on a wear and tear part - not covered!" or its it isnt down to "instantainous mechanical failure - not covered!" which more or less excluded most things.

IIRC it was £300 for 6motnhs FULL cover... not worth the paper it was written on.

Local dealers use this as a way to offer some suppoort if things go wrong and they even may get a kick back for every policy sold.

    Lesson very well learnt.

I had some warranty with them for my last motor (Honda Civic)

The Gearbox blew up (well the input shaft went and associated bearings)

I had paid for their top warranty (5 stars i believe).

They told me the problem was due to wear and tear and would not touch it.

I had to pay up £1200 in total to get it fixed..

After 3 months of letters, the garage i bought it from and the warranty company went halfs on the cost of the repair....

The garage now refuses to sell their warranties.

I personally don't like these sorts of warranties. Statistically you will be worse off, and they also have a huge list of exclusions.

but what makes it even worse is the car was stripped down,a iasked tham how much extra would they charge to fit a new joint, they quoted £75 on top of the £49 diognostic charge, which is taking the micky,i also asked the workshop forman in my last place of work about if the inner cv joint wears,he said he has never sean one wear out in normal use,as mine went suddenly it was a mechanical faliure not wear and tear
