    Exclamation

    !!!PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I've taken my car to VX this morning, armed with all sorts of print-outs of threads and posts on this forum, even gave them a field remedy number (???) and the part number of what needs replacing! But they cant find it listed anywhere as a problem or fault. The parts section have the part number on the screen so can order the coupler (?) it if I need to.

----I've got that stupid rattle on acceleration or at low revs problem still---

BUT VX can only find that problem listed with the Z19NET (Well he said it was the 1.9 Diesel) engine!

So they wont touch the car unless I pay for them to do the fault finding. But after its been with them twice at £40 a time, I dont want them to give me the usual --- "NO FAULT FOUND SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!"

SO, please, if anyone has ANY information, a problem number, complaint number, something I can shove up their fat stupid arses! Please post or PM me! I'm on the verge of parking the car in the showroom window!!!!

I know people on here say its a common problem, but I just wish my local masterfit centre was even just half decent...

Ok, well VX have called me back with reference to the above Field Remedy code that they couldnt find... But suddenly have...

They reckon its a 2.5 hour job and so just for labour they want over £200!!! Errrr....? What... £65 an hour!!!?? Just to fit a new coupler onto a belt?

They didnt have the price for the part on the phone, but I think Duncan said it was £90 or something like.

Anyone else having, had this problem?

I get it when I put my foot down from Low Revs. Anything below 2k really. It SOOOO annoying! I have to really hit it in 1st to get to 3-4k to get into 2nd to stop the horrible rattle... I must look like a right noob taking off from roundabouts and traffic lights etc... I cant just slow down at a open, clear junction, I have to virtually stop and got to 1st...

Yep, theres a fix. The noise does get worse after a while!

The problem (correctly worded) from VX is -

Z20NET Engine Poly-V-Belt Rattling at drive off or acceleration at low revs.

Its due to the resonance frequency of the auxiliary belt. (?)

The fix is with part number 93172295 - Its an improved coupler that was fitted to Z20NET cars after 2005. It wasn't a problem that warranted a recall apparently.

    So stuck with it...

The problem with Field Remedies is that the work is only FOC if you're inside warranty. Outside of that and they'll charge you the going rate.

That part number is the modified alternator pulley - going by other threads - and is the bit that's £90 odd. The labour sounds a bit OTT. Didn't think it was a 2.5 hour job - lemme have a look for you.

Yep, I did - along with the twittering.

Looking back at some of my posts to refresh my memory, the twittering/squeaking seems to be down to the alternator pulley, the juddering is the belt tensioner.
