Well obvs the Diesel will sound clattery at idle/low speed. The Astra will probs feel smoother when accelerating through the gears, you will get nasty Diesel all over your hands most times you fill up but you should love the torque and oh yes, put some savings away for the dreaded DMF, swirl valve linkage, windscreen wiper linkage and EGR but apart from that you will love it. I do with my 1.9CDTi (Remap is a good option). Good luck.

The car I had before the Vectra was a 2002 1.6 SXI, and I'm so glad I changed it for a Vectra.

The obvious diesel / petrol aspects aside, the CDTi 150 is a totally different beast to the 1.6 Astra, much more performance and better economy too, although if you've never driven a diesel before, the low down (off turbo) performance can be off-putting to some.

They go like the clappers. I had an SRi as a hire car and it left the missus 1.8 sports hatch for dead. Lot more gear changes to keep the turbo spinning but that's half the fun.

    You'll love it.

You'll find the Vectra quite a bit easier to drive, and a whole heck lot more comfortable. I went from a Design Sporthatch, and never been happier. Could never ever get comfortable in the Astra.

I've put my desposit down on the 150 SRI, and also have to wait 2 weeks, and yes it's killing me also!!! I've got the pain in the ass of having to change insurance companys too, as they want a ridiculous amount on the new motor!

Ive driven the SRI 150 before, and to say it brings out a smile is and understatement, its a wickedly fast car, that words cannot describe until you have experienced it. Utterly devastates a lot of cars on the road today, and the pull in 2nd and 3rd is simply incredible.

As other have said, it really is shocking when not on boost, as there is very little pull, especially in 1st gear. Clear that though, and its fun all the way.

Get on the country A/B roads, and its happy as a pig in S**T!!!!
