After getting my tyres fitted yesterday that Muffking kindly sold me, I popped into Charles Warner of Lincoln to have a look at the new insignia SRI 2.0cdti again. Was having a good look round when the sales man pounced. So I played along and made out i was genuinly intrested in buying one (I would if had the money). Asked him for a price on said motor, Hatchback, maual with Nav in white. He tapped a few keys on his keyboard and said it would be about £21,500 but there currently doing a deal with £3k off list price so £18500 otr but it would be a factory order and if i went ahead it would be end of july time before I could take delivery. So I asked the guy if I could get a price on my 06 55 plate 2.0T siggy design with 19" snowflakes 65k on the clock, Its in VGC apart from the snowies could do with a refurb. He took some details to which he punched into his comp, then told me he could not give a price cos he was new car sales, and that he would get one of the used car salesmen to come round and have a look and give me a price, so off he trotted. came back 5 mins later. No one had looked at my motor and he said that they would offer £2500 p/x This is the part where I nearly needed a 1st aider. I said sorry what was that as I thought I'd mis heard him, £2500 sir was the reply, to which I replied your having a laff. No sir, how much were you expecting to get? I replied about £4k /£4.5K against a brand spanker at least. Oh no sir we've already knocked £3k off the insignia, you cant expect that much. Hold on a minute you knocking £3k off your motor has nothing to do with mine, your doing that to try and sell, due the car industry in turmoil, that's got nothing to do with my motor. Anyway they were not willing to budge on the price for my car, so I polietly thanked for wasting my time and told if I buy one Then It would not be from them and bidded him farewell. What a Joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I shouldn't be bothered as I had no intension of buying but it really pi$$ed me off.
I cant see Charles Warner lasting that long if there the sort of p/x prices their offering, and i know people can sell privately but its not everyones cup of tea, some people like to trade in, But with those sort of prices it just gonna scare people off.
Ok moan over, lets get on with life
