    Default drive vauxhall service offer

    Hi All

My 1.8VVT is due its secound service in May and i have just had an offer from drive vauxhal drop through the post for a service at its masterfit side for £119.00.The question is would this be a good alternative to the secound service ignoring the fact thats its a vauxhall dealer and assuming they use 5w 30 oil(iwill check before booking). These are the items they replace/check....sorry for the long post
    CHANGE
    spark plugs,air filter,engine oil,oil filter,fuel filter.
    CHECK
    All over levels
It then lists all the over basic check you wuld expect to be carried out i.e pads, tyres etc etc

Has anyone any thoughts on this cos it seems quite a good price

    cheers

Taking the parts should you purchase list, it's not bad. I feel depends if you would do any of it yourself to save on labour cost HTH . ......

Just becareful with these offers from vx sometimes they are not what they seem!! in that I've just been on to my local vx dealer service dept. and mentioned to him about their offer of £99 masterfit service, all you get is oil and filter change and quick check over the car and top ups if needed he says, so I then asked about stamp in the service book and was told you only get a stamp in the additional oil and filter section of the book, if you're like me I want a pucker stamp in the book, instead I have to go for a normal service @£155 which basically is the same for mine (5 year service) what a rip off, just to get a proper stamp in the book!!
Normally I prefer to service my own vehicles, but want to keep service book up to date at least for resale etc.

The intrim service is only an oil change and a check around the car. Masterfit or vauxhall service. But you get a stamp and that worth it . All the vauxhalls I have serviced have an intrim and that about £100.

I would doubt they will be using 5W-30 oil at that price, more likely standard 10W-40 oil
You could ask them to upgrade the oil or supply your own

So how do they justify £99 and stamp in additional oil section of service book or £155 and a stamp in the proper section of the manual, it's just a crazy rip off.

i used to work for a vauxhall dealer where we did a £99 serivice (bigger engines cost more),the car would get the oil,oil filter, plugs and air filter done (fuel filter on a diesel),the actual servicing was a non profit making servicing, the reason for offering the service cheap was to get the car in the workshop,as most cars would have faults that was where the money was made

Sounds about right, make sure you tell them you want 5w-30 oil, mine used 10w-40 , had a battle with them over that.
