    Default Wireless Internet Abroad?

    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can help me,,

My mum has a holiday apartment in Spain that she rents out, but also quite frequently goes over for short breaks.

Does anyone know if its possible to get somthing along the lines of a wireless dongle so that she can take her laptop over with her and have access to the internet??

She is not over there enough for it to be worth while paying for a monthly contract, so really would have to be pay as you go and must be wireless due to there being no phone lines to the apartment.

    Anyone know of a solution?

    Cheers

if your mum has a laptop with a express card slot sonyericsson do a modem, you just pop the card in the slot after popping your sim card (you could buy a local sim card) and you will get internet,it wont be fast but will be ok for getting your emails and some other browsing

here is a link to the item http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/supp...00?lc=en&cc=gb there is no contract and you can plonk a pay as you go sim card in it

    Hi,

Another 2 possible solutions for you to consider. We also have an apartment in Spain and, although we get over 7 or 8 times a year, I don't feel it justified having phone line and/or broadband installed due to the cost. A neighbour/friend of ours who lives there (who we have known since we all bought at the same time some 6 years ago) had wired broadband so I simply bought him a wireless modem and connect via his network connection. It may be worth your mum finding out who, if anyone, has broadband already in the complex and coming to some arrangement whereby she can log on through their network - even if she has to contribute something towards the cost.

There are a number of sattelite broadband providers on the southern coast of Spain who can provide a connecton for a one off set up fee. Best bet for this would be to look in the local papers for the relevant details.

Vodafone and all the other network mobile providers offer contract and/or pay as you go mobile broadband but they can work out quite expensive (depending on what type of stuff is downloaded when your mum is there).

Thanks for all the help guys!!

Solorider - Thats exactly the sort of thing she's looking for!

She is not allowed to put a satalite dish up or that would have probably been the easiest solution.

    Cheers again
