Default Air filters and induction kits

May seem a bone question, but as every body is talking filters, I have a 2.2DTI on 52 plate, I haven't yet looked at the nick of my filter, (on my to do list) but If I went and bought a normal panel K&N filter or if I Decided to by the induction kit http://knperformancefilters.co.uk/k-.../prod_631.html would I (a) still need a panel filter and (b) would there be any noticeable real world difference?

    Cheers

I personally would not use a induction kit as all they do is suck in hot air from under the bonet and this reduces power, but in answer to your question no you do not still need a panel filter with an induction kit.
I would go for a new panel filter and keep it clean.

Not all induction kits are like that, there are many closed induction kits which only use the air from a cold feed.

i have just changed from a k&n panel filter to an induction kit a wow what a differance it has made. even with the k&n panel filter the car felt sluggish in first and second gear and only picked up when i got to 3rd gear.
now with the induction kit the car is way more responsive from start i would recommend the induction kit as i have now tried both and what a differance. but i would recommend a heat shield unless you go for a inclosed induction kit.
