Default Petition against 50 mph restriction

If this goes against forum rules, or ethics I apologise in advance, and I sincerely hope that you donít view this as misuse of the forum, but I believe that this is something that you may well be interested in. There is a proposal to reduce national speed limits to 50 MPH (& even restrict all the currently de-restricted country roads to 40 MPH). This is a massively naÔve proposal, that will not serve to significantly reduce deaths or improve emissions , but will in many cases increase journey times and reduce the countryís efficiency and so I urge you to sign it. This does imply that you condone speeding, just that you donít want your motoring to become more restricted by inappropriate speed cameras and legislationÖ

Please click on the link below to sign the following petition:
    http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/noNSLreduction/

    The petition reads:
'We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to NOT reduce the national speed limit to 50mph. Following the announcement that the government is planning to reduce the national speed limit to 50 miles per hour, we the undersigned oppose this, since it will make no difference to road deaths and the cut in carbon emissions is so insignificantly small it's laughable.í

If you are supportive, please pass this onto your like minded friends

Signed, What they should do is give fines out to people who sit in the middle lanes not overtaking anyone, it is a pet hate of mine and should be outlawed....

What they fail to realise, is that for most people driving at 50mph will mean driving in 5th instead of 6th, and for longer journeys. Ergo, more carbon emissions (if you believe any of the rubbish associated with that particular topic...)

i totally agree with matt, my pet hate is those people sat in the middle lanes not overtaking, and if we get caught undertaking them all hell gets let loose!
