Not sure what yours will use - VX say 5-30 Fully Synthetic for the 2.0T. I found this an interesting read, sure its been posted before thou.
5w30, short and sweet Thats the factory oil.

it all depends to be honest.. are you just topping up or changing it completely? what sort of service intervals are you using?
just topping up-- 10w40 semi synthetic will do.
low to mid mileage and servicing every 20,000miles,12 months- 5w30 fully synthetic, this can be branded as a long life oil as well.
whatever you do don't put a mineral oil in it, it will clog the valves up and not run too good....
most oil manufacturers will recommend two oils, in your case 5w30 fully synth as ultimate protection and 10w40 semi synth for standard protection.
If you are following the original service schedule or the car is on ECO Flex, then you should use oil that meets 5W-30 GM-LL-A-025 or GM-LL-B-025
If you have cut the oil changes to 10K miles, or less, then you can use pretty much any synthetic or semi synthetic oil between 0W-30 and 10W-40
nice reply knoxvillain couldnt have put it better myself
0w30, 5w30, or 10w/40 will all do. 10w40 will not last any longer than 10k.
VX own brand 5W 30 long life oil is the only oil I use in my 1.8
