    Default Who would win?

My freind and i are having an argument. he drives a 1.8 Astra IV Cabriolet and i recon over a mile long drag race id be able to out run him in my 2.0DTi just because of the poke the old diesels got in second and third. there both around the same Bhp mines 100 his is 125 i think but ive got oodles of tourqe in compared to his.

what do we recon ove a mile drag?

It depends what the 1.8 is like when you give it some beans.

VX petrol engines aren't exactly slow and haven't been over the years.

The old Cavalier SRi 130 could easily see the wrong side of 135mph!

I've got no experience of the 2.0 Dti, but there's only one way to find out!!

    "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

much as I love diesels i would put money on the lighter more powerful car. Petrol engines rev higher, driven flat out they perform well. He will beat you easily IMO.

    Vehicle : Insignia Grand Sport

Non-VVT pre-facelift 1.8 petrol would beat a 2.0DTI Vectra 'C'. The same 1.8 engine is in the Astra, which is lighter and therefore quicker. 2.2DTI, now that would be more of a contest with the diesel gaining the upper hand IMO

LOL, my farther could produce a speeding ticket for 138 MPH in a SRi 1.8 many many moons ago, and that was a pre 130 a C reg. Shows how times have changed, 2 week ban .

C393 DWU, now that was a car, if I ever saw it I would buy it at the drop of a hat.
