Default any ideas on a zafira?

hi guys, am looking at replacing my veccy in the near future, and have been looking at a zafira (want to keep with vx)
i have decided i want a newer shape (zafira b) and a design spec, but am clueless as to what the engines/gearboxes are like
been looking at the 1.9 (150) cdti, but a lot seem to come with the auto box, is it any good or should i hold out for a manual?
and would the 1.9 lump be better then a petrol, i think they do either a 1.8 or a 2.0t in petrol
hope someone can shed some light, lol
    cheers

lol, tempting as it is, they are still quite expensive and dont fancy the insurance/running costs of the 2.0 turbo, least with the 1.9 there is room to mod it and its not a lazy engine either, unlike my 1.8

    hi all

ive sold my signum IS3 and im now in the market and position to buy a
    zafira,im going for the 1.9cdti 150 design,ive seen a few which i be viewing
shortly, theyv`e got some options on them and are at a reasonable price to
but the mileage aint low but then diesels go on for ever so im not that
bothered,if anything goes wrong then i have contacts in the trade that can
    sort wotever goes wrong.

p.s ive been told that the 1.8 is gutless so im keeping away fro that 1

my 1.8 veccy isnt gutless as such, its pretty nippy but you need to rag it a bit
dont think i would touch the 1.8 zafira, seems too small an engine for a big car

Steve, My parents bought a new 1.9cdti with 6speed auto box, drove it best part of the way to spain and back in Sept, and found it very nice and easy to drive and not bad on the mpg either..

The other half has a Zafira Design 150 cdti manual.

Has never dropped below 47mpg; had to get the cruise control fitted, £80 from stealers. Great car.

My wife has the 1.8 petrol and its quick enough. 140 bhp is only 10 less than the diesel and is still very quick. She gets 360 ish miles to a tank round town and is a lot cheaper than a diesel to fill. Its a Design model so is great spec. When it comes to replacing ours might get her the VXR as only puts her insurance up by £60 a year and she only does about 3k a year. So the 1.8 is not gutless by any means.

Just had a loan of a 1.9 CDTI SRI Zafira from Enterprise over the last week. I'd definitely go for the 150 CDTI as the 120 felt a little bit reluctant to pull away when I put myt foot down.
Saying that, it was pretty decent to drive but was nt overly impressed with the SPec compared to the Signum, so it would have to be a Design Spec if I vever got one.
