Default Latest map disk for CD70

Possibly the dumbest question you'll read on here today, but am I correct in thinking that I can get the latest 2008 (?) Nav Disk, bung it into my late 2005 CD70 and all will be fine?

Not changed from CD to DVD or anything like that?

Is it worth the upgrade? And if so, is eBay the best place to obtain?

    Cheers.

Depends on how often you use it. Have you seen any errors in the map?

Hi. Not noticed any major issues yet, apart from it having a very limited number of postcodes stored... which was the main reason for thinking of the upgrade.

    It's only a 5 digit postcode thing.

Buy a Tomom, only £100 these days rather than waste money on a map if you must. Hide the sat nav in the boot. If/when you can't find a destination use the Tomtom...that's what I do.

yeah. that's a fair point. just wondering if the newer disks work in the older units. would be nice if it's as up to date as possible for the few times i'll use it... especially for POIs

Here's the 08/09 UK & Ireland disk from Navteq, the OEM supplier to VX. http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...gationMenu=YES

At this price, you may as well get a portable satnav as steve1975l said.

You wouldn`t buy a car with an OEM sat nav in then go and buy an aftermarket item would you ?
Theres a member on here - sig63, he sells these disc`s,give him a PM. Other than that these cd disc`s can be copied not that I am suggesting that you do this of course.

When looking for my Vec I only looked at ones with sat nav. If I knew it only had a 5 digit system I wouldn't have bothered as I payed a premiuim for factory sat nav. Oh well you learn by your mistakes.

I doubt the small changes warrant the cost of a newer map.

Updated maps are made to take into account changes in the road network ( new roads, one ways etc ) not just for software/display upgrades.
Yes if you go to the Navteq web site you will pay over £100 for the latest uk/europe disc, but these are for sale on ebay for a lot less.
