    Default Vectra-C "silly bulbs - blue" :-(

Ok after getting most of the car converted to blue led's many thanks to kman.

Decided to change the bulbs too.

Purchased 501's for the rear interior light. Whenever i put these in. They stop working and a relay starts clicking in the passenger side fuse box.

Put old bulbs back in and they work fine. Is it possible to just buy blue 501 bulbs.

Glove box and boot were easy. Festoon 42mm blue led. Worked a treat.

After talking to kman decided to look at the visor bulbs. Struggled to get tham apart. Once i did was certainly shocked by the bulb.

They appear to be 36mm festoon bulbs but with only a 5-6mm thickness. Has anyone converted these to blue? What bulbs did you use? where from?

I looked for festoon 36x5mm and 6mm without any luck.

    Cheers Guys

    Nick

someone else on here had issues with leds in the rear interior light never going off (but just kinda glowing...) i've had the same issue with 501 led bulbs in a clio as well...
(No idea what causes it... but regardless of the switch position it seems enough leccy gets around the circuit to make them glow, whereas a filament bulb doesn't...? I did wonder if they had a capacitor in that stored electricity for some reason - but it stayed on for well over an hour...)

Anyway, Ebay has got a gazillion blue standard filament 501 bulbs - i'd look for the ones that don't intimate their road legal for the best blue effect... (ie: the mtec ones look blue but shine bright white when lit... i'm guessing you want one's that actually look blue when lit... Something like these, maybe??

Hi Nick , there is a bulb paint available at halfrauds. It does the job but does scratch off easily. Thats what I have in my rear ones at the moment. Could also be a solution to the 36mm festoons

rich u could of told me sooner lol.

Looks like this may be the only way for the visor bulbs. I think i have some blue 501's out of my old car.

Does it really look blue. or just a slight tint?

This is the effect that it gives you. Remember they only go in one way so if they don't light up 1st time just turn them about . hth
