    Default Show Preparation

PVS will be my first car show and was wondering what the usual routine is for you guys getting the car ready for showing? I'm going to be arriving at the pod on saturday. Current plan is to do as much to the car as possible before travelling up.

What sort of gear should I bring to tidy up/prepare the car on the morning of the show etc.?

I'm just bringing both of my boxes of detailing gear. If I tried to bring just a few products I would end up leaving the one I really need at home.

the best thing to do just befoe you arrive Neil si find a jet wash near to santa pod an blast off the road grime using that. Then when in the show ground on the sunday all you need to do is use clean water you wash off the overnight muck and your'e away wih a quick blast of spary wax, plastic cleaner and glass cleaner (still probably take us over hour though!)

When I did my Best kept car competition at the same show last year, my prep was a little extreme for a normal show car but basically went like this.

3 weeks up to show, had all the wheels off and scrubbed the arches clean by hand. The wheels (including the insides of the spokes) were cleaned too. Engine bay scrubbed and cleaned. A full detail carried out, as best as I could do back then.

From then to the show, just keeping on top of it, few nights a week and weekends. Applying new layers of wax etc.

The day before the show, drove down from Newcastle to Northampton, through torrential thundestorms and rain. Arrived at Billing aquadrome, and jetwashed my filthy car. Actuallly, I did it at the same jetwash and time as the drinkies, but we didn’t know each other then as it was before we had launched Vec c lol.

Did another full detail in the car park of the travel inn.

Car was psotless for the short drive the next day. Then at the show just dressed all the tryes, plastics again, cleaned the wheels again, dressed the engine, and applied another coat of wax.

This year, I'll do basically the same, but not so much pre show prep. I'll still clean it the Saturday afternoon in the travel inn car park which just leaves minor work for the Sunday.
