    Angry Not happy

Just popped down to the car and found a big dent in my back door on the drivers side. I am fumming, it has blue paint where the dent is, it looks like they have hit it while reversing out of the space next to me. I have got the CCTV people looking in to it for me at the moment, I just hope they have got it and have the persons number plate. If they have not I don't know what to do apart from making a clame on my insurance. Why don't people own up to stuff like this? Just a letter on the windscreen would do.

    Shuld I ring the police?

Sorry about that m8, but even if they have CCTV footage with the plate, its getting the person responisble to admit it.

What will happen is that police will go to cars registered address and ask who the owner is and if they were driving the car, chances are they will deny it and say they do not know who was driving the car at the time, then the police will come back to you and say - no evidence.

Your best chance is to get a front view of the car and driver but even there its not fool proof.

I hope im wrong and you get it sorted with no hassle, though its disgusting this kind of thing.

Sorry 'bout your car. Isn't it an offense to leave the scene of an accident? If so what was just a "prang" has now left the other person breaking the law. I'd recommend reporting it to the police (you may have to re: your insurance) but I can't see them being able to do much unless they drop lucky & spot a crunched car with your paintwork on it.
