Not intending on changing my car but a couple of weeks back i was offered a straight swap.............
'07 reg' Arden blue VXR with just over 14k on the clock, for my 2.0T.
The VXR was a little untidy for my liking, all wheels were marked, stone chips to the front (unavoidable) and a couple of small dints to the body work. Priced at £10,999 i knew mine wasn't worth that much so wasn't a bad offer really !
I'd say they couldn't shift it.
Then today, my car was in the dealers for its 2nd service (just done 18k miles). I had a walk round the car lot before they opened and saw a nice '57 reg' VXR in black. Hmmm-nice i thought. £16,999 eek ! Too much by about £4k.
I 'enquired' about p/x ing and left it with them to have a look at mine after it'd been serviced.
Collected the car about noon, went to see the salesman and then they dropped the bombshell !
"Yours is booked at £7000 mate but because of all the upgrades and mods, we can only offer you £6500 !"
"So how the F**K they work that one out ?"
Just gone 2 years old, full VX service history, 18K on the clock, 2.0T SRI XP with snowflakes, 314mm brakes, BSR stage 1, lowered on Eibach springs, strut brace, K&N filter, Irmscher mats - pedals - tax disc holder - gear knob - handbrake cover - door pins and plate holders, CCS full custom leather interior, Signum chrome fogs, VXR rear diffuser, VXR 'V' grille plus other odds 'n' sods coming in at about £3000 in total !
Before anyone comes out with "you never get your money back on mads !"
My point is how can they make the car worth £500 less than book price ?
They are taking the Piff - big time !
Time for a quick exit .
