    Default LED's in Courtesy Light

I had a spare pair of white LED's in the garage so decided to fit them to the interior light. They look really good, but ................ they don't switch off completely!! They dim down like they should but they still emmit a tiny amount of light. They have been like it all night.
    Why?

i've had similar problem when i put a few leds instead of a bulb in a car. when i turned lights off, the leds would still turn on and off every few seconds and so whole day. some say it is because leds use very little amount of power and they are lit easily, and other say that car is sending electrical impulses to the bulb to check if it is working properly, each time the bulb receives a signal it turns on for a second...

a few said that adding a resistor may do the trick..
