    Default Aftermarket Stereo CD Fitting

Iíve just purchased an aftermarket stereo, bought it from Maplin, one of their Bluetooth, MP3 jobs, but having a little bit of a problem.

Basically I have purchased one of the standard ISO loom adapters (eBay), plugged it into the loom and stereo to check it all works before fitting, and the red LED security light flashes on the stereo, and the on button glows, but when I push the on button nothing happens.

The ISO adapter seems to be exactly the same as the Vauxhall plugs, it just has the red and yellow leads swapped as far as I can see, so I tried not using bypassing ISO adapter, and it does exactly the same, however the red led glows a lot brighter, but still does not turn on, maybe it is getting more power now.

Am I doing something wrong? Or does it sound like a faulty unit?

The car is a 2002 DTI SXI.

Any ideas? I have read about needing to take power from cigarette lighter, is this instead of using the yellow wire from the loom?

You need to take a feed from the cig lighter on the back of it there is a small connection taped to it on the iso lead you should have a loose wire with spade connection on it connect this to the connector at cig lighter and should power up as the old head unit has 4v to power it up the new one take 12v to power it hope this helps you.

Hi Marc, Thanks for your reply.

This must be the problem as i have just plugged it into our clio and the head unit powers up fine.

The new head unit does now have a loose wire, all of the wires go directly into the adapter. The ISO harness which i purchased from ebay also does not have a loose wire.

I presume it will be finding which wire it is in the adapter and taking a snip of it. Will it be the constant 12v or the ignition 12v which needs to come off the cig lighter?
