    Default Bilstein B12: B8 Shocks + H&R Springs

    Hello everyone,

I have a '06 Vectra Hatch 1.9 cdti 150 which had the factory fitted lower suspension. Since it was time for replacement (and lowering) i bought a Bilstein B12 kit last year: B8 Shocks + H&R Springs which i found was awesome for driving on tracks and perfect roads. Unfortunately roads aren't that great where i live and with a baby on the way i'm afraid the suspension is a bit too harsh.

I like the lowered look. Can i keep the H&R springs and replace the shocks with B4's without them wearing too fast or the bumper hitting speedbumps?
I've read a lot about the B4's but i thought they were a replacement for regular shocks, the SRI's are shorter aren't they?
One last question, is there much difference in harshness of the lowering springs? Should i keep the H&R's or should i go for Eibach, Koni of PI springs or something similar?
    Thanks!

I had the B12 kit on my Astra, and I full agree that it's a little too harsh for every day driving.

Have you considered the Koni FSD shocks? They might be the best compromise.

There's also a B6 shock that's "softer" than the B8 that's supplied with the B12 kit, but is still firmer than the stock suspension. If you search Bilstein's web catalogue you'll see the two types of B6 listed. The softer type is probably what I'll be going for when the standard dampers wear out.

I've been in contact with Koni. They recommend against the use of lowering springs with FSD's.
The B6's seem the best option.
