M.o.t help needed

Hi boys just a quick question my 1st m.o.t is due on the 28/04/2009 is it true i can get the car a m.o.t 1 month before the due date ?? also both my fog lights are cracked but still work fine but will that cause the m.o.t to fail thanks all

you can get a pre mot check done - I saw a place that did a service and mot for £99, you could try that.

you can get the mot done early bud and it will be added to the 12 months

I think it is up to 28 days before the due date

I was under the impression you could get an MOT done anytime.

Yes but you can in effect get up to 13 months M.O.T

If it's the front fog lights that are cracked, yes it will pass. My previous car passed every time with a smashed glass on the left front fog light. Tester said it's OK as front fogs are not a legal requirement, so aren't tested.

As the MOT is all done by computer now, when th VIN is entered it knows what the due date is, so you can submit it up to 4 weeks before and it will give you the extra time. So you can get your car MOT'd after 1st April 2009 and it will expire 28th April 2010.

yeah front fogs aren't tested at MOT. I imagine it'd only cause it to fail if there was sharp edges or something.
