    Default ERG Cleaner, confusion??

I read somewhere that people use carb cleaner on their ERG valve. Having looked at the Wynns carburettor cleaner can it states on the instructions for petrol engines.
Can this be used on the ERG valve of a diesel engine (if the ERG valve is removed) to clean it?
    Sorry for the numpty question
    Michael

Thanks for clearing that one up!
Do I just need to spray it on, leave it a while and wipe of or does it take some scrubbing to clean it up?

I believe most people leave it to soak for a while

you can soak or just blast it out with the carb cleaner it is easier to see than explain ,just split the ergin half and all becomes clear or gunged up! as is usually the case.

Well I sorted it out this afternoon. I used a new product from wynns. Its a aerosol can that you spray the entire contents down the air intake. this cleans the pipes and the EGR valve. I have tested the car this afternoon and so far it's 100% better. I didn't even need to remove the EGR valve. Will see how it goes over the next few days and hopefully that will be it.
    Happy Days.
    Thanks for your help.
