    Angry Smoking

What do people think to smokers outside school gates and even some cheeky *******s walking through the yard doing it?

My son is 5 and attends a local school (not a posh one) and when I take him in or pick him up there they are the loccal slobs smoking around there own kids.

Now if they want to harm there kids health thats up to them. I feel for the kids.

But am at my witts end with it.
What can I do to get the best responce from both school and offending parents?

I think your only option is to arrive earlier than them. I have given up recently, but never used to smoke near kids when dropping mine off.

Some members of the public (scum/junkies) still find it acceptable to get on a bus and light up, as soon as i smell it or spot them on the CCTV i stop and politely tell them there at there stop! I cant stand it.

I agree to an extent what you are saying me being an ex smoker myself..however the last time i looked it was'nt against the law to smoke outside a school, and in any case nearly all kids will try smoking at some stage, wether parents do or not, remeber they are in the open air.

And then get stabbed......probably. Which is worse for your health??

I'm not saying we should let these louts win, but its just too risky nowadays. I'm 19st 6'2" ish and can handle myself reasonably well, but I wouldn't approach anyone to stop what there doing or to breakup a fight. Not in this day and age anyway

you're complaining about what? people smoking outside??? i used to smoke, and i don't really like being right beside someone smoking, but give people a break - if they can't smoke outside - where the heck do they smoke?
it's a dangerous thing, getting things made illegal, one day they'll try to ban something you like.

I think his point isn't smoking outside, it's smoking right next to children. I smoke, trying to give up, I don't mind smoking but I wouldn't do it near mine or anybody elses children. If they were stood right next to the gate that everbody has to walk through I would say it wasn't too clever really. Don't want to see smoking banned but in certain places common sense must dictate that it isn't nice!

yes, but it's outside, it's not a confined space, some may drift near to children, but such is life. where are you going to draw the line? stop smelly trucks and buses from driving past the gates?, get the local factories to power down at 09.00 and 15.00?
i used to smoke, and if someone had asked/told/whatever, me to not smoke outside in a public place there would have been a hell of a row. if you don't like it, don't stand by them. if someone lights up right next to you and you hate it you have 2 options - move away or have a barney with them. for the sake of my blood pressure, i would take the former. of things to get me annoyed, people smoking in public is pretty low.

Where I work, we we're all informed that it was illegal for any employee to smoke outside the staff entrance (the company could receive a fine) and it had to be done in the designated area.
