    Hello,

I have a Canon 400D DSLR and I need to clean the sensor, can someone advise me on what is best for the job??

    I have seen these: http://www.warehouseexpress.com/prod...px?sku=1001957

Are they any good or is it worth getting it done properly/professionally?

Not properly!! Although the camera does have sensor cleaning you still need to clean/have it cleaned properly every once in a while. I have two black specks on my sensor (I can see them) but the camera's own sensor clean will not budge them.

The auto cleaning will get rid of dust, but not anything stickier.
The product you found should work, but be careful, ffs, as sensors are pricey! I have a friend who uses Canon 1D for a lot of outdoor stuff, and you wouldn't believe how much gunge he gets off his sensor when he cleans it.

I personally wouldn't touch those with a bargepole i.e. I wouldn't let them near my sensor, but then again I'm a pro so I'm a bit more finnicky. I've actually never ever cleaned my sensor myself with any method that involves touching it - it's just soooo easy to it up. All I've done to date is use a proper air blower (the Hurricane one) to keep the sensor free from obvious specks - but then again I'm fastidious about where I change lenses and always minimise the chances of anything getting into the body. I'll probably ship it off to Canon in due course for a service and a sensor clean, just to make sure it's all tickity boo, but so far I've not had the need too and I've had the camera for over three years now.

Getting back to your question, there are other things on the market - the Visible Dust Arctic Butterfly range being a well know one, but they start to get quite pricey and still require touching the sensor yourself.

I'd be inclined to bite the bullet and ship it off to Canon - they do this every day and will also check the camera over at the same time. Then you know you're getting it back all clean and you can then start from a clean slate (or sensor ) so to speak.

    Cheers Duncan,

I will look into getting sent to Canon, the last thing I want is to knacker the sensor.
