Auto Box Servicing/Maintenance

I have searched, so apologies if this has been covered before. My 2.8T V6 auto is in for an interim service today, and it got me thinking...

Is there any service schedule for the auto box? I'm thinking along the lines of ATF changes etc., or do they just run until they die?

From what I know about Autobox,s they just check the level and pop up if need be.

On my GSi with the AF33 auto box, VX recommend a fluid change every 40k miles or 4 years. Mine wasn't changed til about 67k miles and boy, what a difference - smoother changes both up and down the box and less clunking when going from N to D at traffic lights.

Would deffo change it in accordance with the VX spec.

Did mine myself with the help of a Haynes manual and VX/Saab spec gearbox oil (from Parts for Saabs) for about £40 - VX stealer wanted £100 + VAT

Maybe someone should start a poll as to who's had a problem with the AF33 or other (are there any?) VX auto boxes?

I am glad to see that VX recomend changing the oil. I have always been on the belife that clean oil is better than dirty oil. So yes Paul I would get it changed if you have got to the VX mileage point for it,s change.
