gear knob

Picked up my Veccy last night. Noticed this morning that the layout of the gearbox that's ontop of the gear knob is at a slight angle, is this normal?

no that's not normal mate, try pulling on it hard, putting it round a spline and bang it back on!

I bet this knob fell off and the pwnver panicked and simply plopped it back on.

I rememebr this happened to my dads one, and when I put it back on it is ever so slightly off centre!

I have fitted my new Irmscher one and it doesn't matter how I put it on, it ends up ever so slightly off centre towards me. It really is a tiny ammount, it doesn't bother me I just thought I'd mention it in case you have problems!

I'll give it a shot but if it's not going to come off easily I'll probably just leave it. Doesn't bother me that much tbh just wondered if it was the same on other folks.

I Had this happen on an old metro of mine. was sitting at a set of lights when i noticed the gear nob wasn't straight i gave it a twist and all of a sudden the whole stick was off one of the bolts that held it to the box had snapped. OOPs. was stuck at lights with a lot of people bibbing behind me till I could get it back on.!! was proper embarrasing!

Ive had my knob in my hands a few times so i bought a irmscher one and its on good and proper now even if this misses gets a bit rough withit (typical women drivers allways to rough)

Yeah I do now but didn't at the time. It was a 130 bhp metro gti that I had fettled with great fun to drive and showed a few cars up. Lol
