header tank cap

hi just noticed ive tried to top the coolant level up because the warning light flicks on now and again that the yellow top cap on the header tank has seperated from the black part. Theres enough of the black part showing to get it out probebly with mole grips but are they a standard fit across the range or do i have to get on special to the 3.2 v6

can i just get on off a vectra at the local scrappy???

I've tried everything suggested (and more) to get the black bit out. My coolant is about 1/2" low so for now, I've just screwed the yellow bit back on. Scared to use exceesive force until I've got a new cap AND a new coolant bottle.

Strange this has happened on our GSi's and never been mentioned on other engines. Let me know how you get on - PM might be better as this thread might get lost in history.

think it was my fault the cap wasnt screwed on wheni picked it up but can i pick on off any vectra from the scrappy

Finally got mine out this morning by prising the old black bit out with two screwdrivers. It looked like the bottom o-ring and lip had gone below the lip in the bottle and jammed, god knows how.

Got a new cap for £9.26 inc VAT from VX, part no.V0009202799, description W0101G03 Cover.

Fits all Vec-C's from 2002 onwards.
