    Default No spanner light

Ever since I've had my CDTi, the spanner light went on with the ignition and stayed on for about 5 seconds after the car had been started but then went out.

However, I've recently noticed that the light doesn't come on at all - at ignition or when the car is started.

Any ideas, or am I worrying about nothing?

yes! It means there was an old fault-code stored (light on with ignition) but as the fault has not happened again in the last 40-odd re-starts it now no longer lights up.

Do you think this was related to your recent alternator problem? ..

tbh I'm thinking about getting rid of it anyway - it's been a complete PITA since I've had it! I've never known a car be so unreliable and have so many known issues / problems... every service it costs me about £600, and I only do about 8k miles a year in it!

    I've had:

    2 manifolds
    2 EGR's
    New fuel lines
    Numerous diesel filters
    New fuel tank
Anti roll bar bushes front and back - and the fronts have started squeeking again after a year
    2 new headlights
    2 new fog lights

The clutch is on it's way out and the DMF has been rattling for about 5k miles... and now soon to be a new alternator

I mean, the car is only 4 years old and only covered 50k.

    Rant over.
