I had this on mine. Vx couldnt find the fault so i sold it.
Same motor this way no problems ... :ranger;
Not sure if it is related but I had a similar problem on my 2.2 direct with 32,000 miles on the clock. I ended up changing the timing and balance chains plus the associated tensioners and pulleys etc which cured the problem.
You can't push over 150bhp through what is nothing more than a bike chain and expect harmony under the bonnet!
Good luck!
it only seems to do it when the engine is warm!. The car is covered by a network q warranty so hopefully it will be covered, anybody know how good the network q warranty is?
The engines good for 700BHP with off the shelf GM parts. Supercharging them is getting quite common now. GM use uprated parts now in the 2.2, think they are from the 2.0T, and as far as i'm aware no 2.0T have ever had a chain problem?
dealers discovered it was the timing chain that was goosed, all fixed by them as it was a network q car bought from them luckily had a month left on netq warranty so all done for sod all, who says the 2.2 direct timing chain doesnt fail? only done 38k aswell!!!
