confused Car is worse after 4 wheel alighnment!!!

Got all four wheels alighned yesterday, because since ive put my new wheels on i cant seem to get rid of the shaking in the steering wheel and noiticible juddering at 70mph (did not do this whilst lowered on the sri wheels). I've had my new wheels balanced by 4 different places now! But since getting the alignment done the rear end of the car seems to be getting towed along behind. When driving straight the back end deffinitly seems to follow every bump or manhole cover in the road making the car feel twitchy. Have I a wheel bearing(s) on it's way out causing both my problems and has came to light with the extra stress the bigger wheels put on it, or has something not been tightened after getting the alighnment done, and my wheels possibly still out of balance? Or am I going mad??

What wheels have you fitted. If they are non vauxhall wheels have you fitted the correct spigot rings into the wheels. Most wheel manufacturers make one size of wheel centre then supply diferent thickness spigots to fit different manufactures hub sizes if these are not fitted or they are too large for the hub then you will get wheel vibrations due to the fact that the wheel is supported by the studs and not by the hub.

Aftermarket wheels, with spigot rings fitted, the wheel seems to be as tight as can be on the rings and the rings are a very snug fit to the hub. They are only 1mm thick plastic though.

I heard of some sets of wheels having problems being balanced by machine. Sometimes the old fashioned manual wheel balancing kits are better with "problem" rims and tyres.

Shouldn't be too hard to diagnose or disprove a bearing problem - usuall makes a droning noise and when you jack up that side of the car it'll be possible to wobble the wheel by hand in a way that isn't normal.
