Tube is £3 per journey in cash, or half that if you get an Oyster card (which I have, even though I only go to London 6-10 times a year it's still worth it in the long run!).

Lots of travel tools at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/traveltools/default.aspx, including journey planner.

A word about weekends though- double and triple-check the engineering works taking place - one weekend recently I ended up taking 1h25mins to do a journey that normally takes 15 - missed my connection; very expensive. Handily the reason was that TfL had a series of 'planned closures' that meant only three out of the 11 tube lines were working normally...

Just done the journey on TfL site and - - - planned engineering works on the Metropolitan line, though these will probably only have a knock-on effect. here's the route it gave me:

    Uxbridge Underground Station
Take the Piccadilly Line towards Cockfosters
METROPOLITAN LINE: Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March, suspended between Wembley Park and Uxbridge and between Wembley Park and Northwood. Two rail replacement bus services operate.
    Zone(s): 6, 5, 4, 3, 2
    Average journey time: 42 mins

    Hammersmith (Dist & Pic lines)
Walk to Hammersmith Broadway Bus Stn
    Transfer time: 5 mins

    Hammersmith Broadway Bus Stn
Take the Route Bus 220 from Stop: C towards Mapleton Crescent
    Buses every: 7 - 8 mins
    Max journey time: 17 mins

    Kingwood Road / Fulham F.C.
    Walk to SW6 6HH
    Average journey time: 9 mins

That's about an hour and a quarter in total.

I'm 10 miles from Slough and IMO if I was staying in the centre of Slough, I'd sleep in the car.

If you have time to go sightseeing in Slough , then take a 2 minute walk to Slough police station, as featured on Road Wars - just down the road from the Premier Inn.
