    Default BBay

    Evening one and all....

To my horror, the (rear facing) car seat that came with a 500 quid plus travel system for my new baby will not fit properly in my 52 reg GSi....so much for my homework!

Has anyone ever come across the same issue and if so how did you resolve it and what make/ model of car seat did you use?

Unless I can get it sorted the GSi will have to go!

    Ta,

    Eurwyn

In what way won't it fit properly? Did you not try the baby seat in the car before you bought it all?

Also, if it definitely didn't fit - wouldn't it be less expensive to change the travel system than the car?

nay I didn't....hence my lack of homework..... :-(

as for the car, I like it...mpg ain't that bad around town @ 27 (which is here I do most of my driving around), but the centre seat won't accept the seat as there is not enough belt to go round, and my 6 y.o lad is gargangtuan....

I haven't bought a lemon, far from it, but the seller was a little economical with the truth in as much as if the cambelt had been changed (no it hadn't), check safeguard (not sussed out till i got home), and horrific road noise (not noticed on the good tar macc'd m'way and A roads around sellers home. Pads and discs on rear also need to be done so it looks like a £600 + fork out which I never placed into the equation...just what I didn't need.

As mentioned fuel ain't really a big problem , neither is insurnce at 81 squid on top of a 1.9dci Megane!! Lots of minuses though, so just thinking what it may be worth now.

3.2 GSi, Flame red, 61750k, fsh up to last scheduled service at (late) 40 something k, unmarked interior.

Would be looking for any kind of Signum as the next car, as I'm led to believe that the rear seats are adjustable with seats that aren't quite as sporty.

just goes to show that you really should do your homework before you committ!!!

    Cheers

well..we've just invested in the recaro young profi plus and isofix base... at 9 months you can swap the seat to the young expert (I think) and use the same isofix base for it too! which is a bonus..as most of the seats, you have to change the isofix base as well at the 9mth point.. at least with this one, they are interchangeable!

we had the same problem with my sri seats as to getting a seat that would fit rear AND forward facing.. we found one as well..which fit which is a birth to 4 year seat and that was the Concorde ultimax... in the end we decided on the recaro one as we could take out the infant carrier..with the concorde..it had to be 'fitted' permamently in the car
