    Default M1 or A1

Going to Watch United Vs Fulham on Sat, So I'm going to drive down Friday night. I'll be setting off from Manchester and picking a mate up in Halifax So the question I have is which would be a better route on a Friday night the M1 or the A1???

They will be about the same at that time of night. A1 flows much better from North to south with roadworks nearly over - Sunday evening took less than 3 hours to go from Newcastle to Stamford and my average speed as per the BC on the vec was 70!

M1 will be better due to 3 lanes, but it tends to snarl up after luton, but it all depends on the time you leave - the later the better.
