    Default Do you know the Highway Code

    So you know you're a good driver... but, when was the last time you looked at the highway code

    Would you say that you know the highway code ?

    I know it inside out but thats cos in my time driving ive had 3 theory tests and drive for a living, dont need to read it all the time

    know the main bits ie what speed to drive at on the roads (not 30 in a 50 for example)

    Non of the above. I read it two or three times a year. Bought a new copy because I wanted to be 100% sure of speed limits on various roads on the way to work.

    Most of the people I know do not know what the different sizes of the broken lines in the centre of the road signify.

    Well I don't actually need to know anything that is in the Highway Code, if there is anything i am not sure about I will ask the wife, she seems to know everything else in the ****** world.

    Its either Speed or they get closer together when your approaching a bend

    The long ones are Hazard lines. The shorter ones just mark the centre of the road. Most roads change between the two all the time.

    If you don't know the road it's like having someone sitting next to you in the car who has travelled it many times pointing out what's ahead. It could be a bend or a side junction or whatever that's the Hazard coming up.

    Someone went to a lot of trouble to Spec. the markings and they work a treat for deciding to overtake or not.
