What is the difference, I can see that the YH doesnt like 91RON fuel (and where in the UK sells 91 btw) I cant see the difference, so why a different number, cheers, Jason

Isn't one the "direct" injestion version thats slightly more powerful?
Has the SE a carb then???
LOL, no, they stopped putting carbs on cars when they fitted cats. The direct has direct fuel injection where as the SE has normal multi point. The direct also has a variable flow intake manifold. There is only about 9 bhp in it and the direct has better MPG as well. The older SE's suffer from a dodgy timing chain system, but should have been sorted when it was fitted to the vectraC. The YH on the other hand suffers from chain problem also but also suffers from failed high pressure fuel pumps, and fuel regs. There are also many faults with the intake manifolds. So in short the YH is an evo of the same engine, but with more things to go wrong. HTH
Cheers for that, I am old, I nearly asked where the grease nipples are.
What is the chain problem with the YH?
The chain guides can fail same as the SE, also the tensions can fail. I say can and nod do mind. I'm only pointing out the bad things about the lumps. They are a great engine, serviced regulaly they will see you well. The SE is fitted to the older Vec C's, so any SRi with this fitted will tend to have more toys. The very early YH had the 5 speed F23 box just like all SE's but then the YH got the 6 speed across the range. I am a bit biased as I have the SE, i'm sure the YH guys would pump there lump up. You wouldnt notice the extra bhp in the YH, but if economy is a big thing for you then the YH has that little bit extra. Have you not considered the 2.0T, same lump again but with a shorter stroke so less cc. Good engine with no major faults.
I have the Z22YH at the moment, still getting used to the auto box, found it a pain trying to overtake and it wont go up a gear til redlining, sorted that problem, the car still amazes me though, just tonight something flashed on the screen
Well I never, I need to top up the screen wash, FAIMO (fairly amazing in my opinion)
Glad you happy mate. Keep good oil in it and its a great lump.
