Howard Basford Accident Repair....

My Signum is off to the Local Howard Basfords on Tuesday for the passenger door to be repaired.

Has anyone had any dealings with them at all? If so, what is the quality of their work like??

I would be happy to find out as well as mine is being repaired by them over the next few weeks after an Audi A4 decided it would be a good idea to park in the side of mine yesterday!

Thats exactly what happened to mine - but in my case, it was an A Class Merc, and the driver didnt leave his details!!

Some kind soul who witnessed it did tho

Personally I would have taken it to Lookers (as indeed I did last year). If you search other car forums I'm sure you'll find some feedback.

Have you had previous dealings with them mate? Lookers didnt seem that keen on doing the work for the insurer, said that they werent one that they normally deal with!
Howard Basford have been good so far. They have arranged my repair dates, sorted me out a hire car and organised me a lift to the local hire company!! Should be a Veccy C or new Mondeo, so looking forward to that for a few days!!

I was lucky the guy who hit me stopped and accepted full liability! so i have got the full works! courtesy car like for like, 5 years warrenty on completed works, full valet on mine on completion etc.

When Lookers did mine the finish was terrible. I rejected the first attempt and they got it right second time so there is no guarantee that even a main dealer will do a good job.

Just be prepared (like with any repair) to go over the finished job with a fine tooth comb. Non of our cars have ever been to HB so I haven't personally got any experience of them. I expect a perfect repair as in 100% perfect. I'm sure you'll be looking for the same.

Did Lookers tell you that they couldn't do the repair? Who are you insured with?

I am currently with Privilege Insurance (They are linked to Churchill) as I had 4yrs NCB.

Went to Lookers in Ellesmere Port for a Quote to pass onto the Insurer to which I was astonished as to how high it was (Over £1200!!!).

I was then asked who I was insured with, to which they replied "We Dont normally deal with them, Im not sure if they accept our quotes"

I understand that to mean...... Its too much hassle to get their examiners out to inspect it, approve and authorise the repair so we cant be @rsed!!
