Default EML + Limp Home Mode

    Morning All,

Started the car this morning, and the EML was on. Started driving to work, and the car was in limp home mode.

Pulled in and restarted the engine, and the EML went off, but it did display that it had stored a fault. Full power restored etc.

I plugged my fault reader in, and it was saying no codes stored, even though the EML was still showing when you turn the ignition on? I've cleared the EML, and it's not come back on.

Car has been fine buying it back in July, apart from a tapping noise from the engine when warm (VX and Pentagon say there isn't an issue with that).

Could the engine be getting bogged down, as I only really do very short journeys in it (engine does get to operating temp before I switch it off though).

Just after some thoughts. Car is a 2005 1.9 CDTI 150 with 45500 miles on the clock (I've only done 4500 miles since July in it!)

Are you sure your fault code reader can read your cars ecu's?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Should do, it's the same one as this:

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70920

Says it can read all engine codes from 2004+ diesels.

    Thats a 480. Try a U581 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/U581-CAN-BUS-C...1%7C240%3A1318)

    That read mine ok.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Cheers mate, I've got access to one of those if I need it. Looks like I've wasted £30 on the 480 then
