Split snow flake!

I took the wheels off last weekend to paint the calipers and washed the insides of the rims while they were off and found two splits on the very inside of the rim i woud suspect potholes and speed humps will be the culprits! Anyway one of them has corrosion round it and has looks as though it's been like that for a while i'm going down to see what the deler says about it as it's still under warrenty . I have a feeling they won't be interested but in 2 mounths of owning it i ain't quilt of one i will see if they will go halves on a new rim and i'll see if i can repair the existiing one ( Thinking it willl replace the space saver) so will know more tomorrow

sounds shocking that, have you got any pics? I work in the engineerign industry and could give you an opinion on likely causes?

I knew the VXR rims suffered from this, but this is new.. will be checking mine over the weekend.

I'm just wondering if the tyre was taken off if the it could be wealded up and balenced ?

I think someone has done this before, but not sure I would trust it again.
