    Thumbs up BP Ultimate Diesel

I'm guessing this thread won't be much interest to the petrol folks out there...

Putting my nerdy hat on (it fits so well...)...

I decided to see if the hype of "28 extra miles per tank" (easier to measure than power increases) with the BP Ult Diesel was true, brimmed from near empty on the last tank and ran it for 500 odd miles. The trip computer went up from an average of 48mpg (over 3000 miles with Shell Diesel Extra) to 51mpg! Not exactly earth shattering, I'll grant you. Even so, that's a 6% improvement for only 4% extra at the pumps - can't lose! What really blew me away was today. Normally the trip computer shows about 650 miles after re-filling; I refilled with the same good stuff and the trip computer was showing a range of 813 miles! WOW! That would be 60mpg average... Can't see it, but it'll be something else to do it.

So, it's worth using even if there wasn't any other benefits...

IMO though performance is slightly better (probably about 5bhp at a wild guess) and the engine seems smoother and quieter - especially when cold.

It's a no brainer for me, Ultimate Diesel all the way!

The next experiment - sod fuel economy and see how much extra fun you can have with those extra few horses!

We were in the pub the other day and one of the topics was BP Ultimate Diesel and BP Ultimate Petrol.

Thumbs up with me and my mates....

Wont use anything else now. I accidently ran too low on fuel recently and had to put 'normal' fuel in and you really notice a difference. Wont do that again.

I love the extra power you get with the Ultimate fuel..

I used to use Optimax with my old V70 when I had that tuned, but TBH, it didn't really make much difference - but the BP Ultimate Petrol did seem a small improvement. Seems like BP is the place to go and buy your squashed dinosaur juice!

I won't be going back to regular diesel now - even if I do have to pay 102.9 per litre!! Yikes... 'tis a pricey garage though, even normal diesel was 98.9.

BP Ultimate petrol is b0llocks in my opinion, never tried the diesel. Optimax is far superior than Ultimate.
