Hi all, I have just (in the last 4 weeks) bought a 52 plate 2.2Dti SRI 44 000 vectra. I have owned and driven many cars over the years but have completely fallen in love (as much as a sane man can). Bought a irmscher grille and finished the look perfectly.
Ok now the problem, when I first got it, the engine warning light would occasionally kick on and I would have reduced power. I know this is a safety measure and after getting it checked out, the problem was one of two things, firstly the ECU needed a software update for the turbo, and possible the turbo was on its way out. kind people at vauxhall updated the software and my garage put in a new (reconditioned ) turbo in. Now the fun really begins.....
every now and again, the engine warning light flashes on just after start up for about 5 seconds and then goes out. Have taken it back to the garage, and the fault codes suggest that its glow plug related. They test all the plugs, change one and send me on my merry way.
Only thing is the warning light comes back on for about 3 seconds now and again after engine start up, sooooo take back to the garage and the same error codes come up so they change the part (don't know the name) which controls the glow plugs, reset the fault codes and send me on my merry way....
Ok, we can guess what happens next, 2 days of problem free and the old warning light comes back on for about 3 seconds and again after engine start up.
Now this doesn't degrade the performance of the car, but am racking up the mileage taking it back to the garage. Am thinking of taking it to a proper vauxhall garage for a diagnostic but they are on £70 an hour.
Has any one got any thoughts?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread as it could go electrical or engine. Can one of the admins move it to the right section if need be.
