Default Spring advice (quick replies needed pls)

My 2.2 elite failed its MOT on a rear coil spring.
These im told only come in pairs.

I have considered the fact I have to buy 2 @ £130 inc vat (the pair) to replace just one damaged why dont I buy a set of PI lowering springs?

    Questions

Are the PI lowering springs you see available over the net in sets of 4 as they are retailing at arround the same price as 2 original springs from Vauxhall?

It also recomends that the shocks are changed when fitting the PI springs, anyone done this without changing the shocks?

Four springs just over £100, I fitted them to my SRI without changing the shocks and they work well. Depends what model you have and how much you want to lower it really,

You should be ok to lower it 30mm, but the elite isn't as low as the sri, 30mm springs and you won't need to change the shocks.

I would just have a look on the net, or PM bobby-tupper as he has just got some and may have an idea where they are in stock mate. Make sure you get the right ones as they are all different for the vec!

So im informed. The garage orderd one which turned out to be wrong. They then rang the nearest Vaux dealer and was told I needed genuine Vaux springs for my model and they are only sold in pairs.

I have had a look here for some PI springs they are a good price.
I presume fitting the rears is a simple job, the front a little more time consuming.

It is harsher mate but I've got 19's fitted too, couldn't say what they are like with smaller rims. It's NOT as harsh as I expected though. It drives better though IMO. Sorry I can't be any more help.

Any lowered car is gonna be harsher than standard but I quite like it, feels sportier if you know what I mean.
