    Default More 2.2 help please...

Hi all, As you may know from previous posts, 2.2 z22se - coolant/gasket issues..

Anyway, question - Take a look at these pictures below. Im no great mechanic but like to have a go at it. Are the little squares at the edge, oil wells that I assume the oil runs through ?

Only one of the 6 wells is covered in mayonase - Do you think this means that the crack, broken gasket has broken at this particular place ?
What are your opinions on this ??

Main reason for taking the cover off today was the car started sounding like a diesel. Can clearly see that the chain is slack so I assume the tensioner has failed. Car drove ok to where I parked it overnight so dont think its jumped any teeth thankfully. Will get a large socket/spanner tomorrow and whip the tensioner out to inspect.

    Your help is much appreciated!!!

All the other little well things seem nice and black !?!? The worst well obviously corresponds to the sam well in the rocker cover, consequently has thrown a bit of mayo throught the breather into the TB induction pipe....

to me it seems to be normal condensation in the bottom right hand corner of the engine bellow the oil filler cap...if it isnt looseing any water i would say dont worry to much all you need to do is prob take the car on longer trips and get it burnt off or change the oil a little more regular .... the chain looks bad ... i would fit a complete kit (but i would say that wouldnt i lol ) .........

sorry just read your other post about it looseing water ...how much water does it loose .? are you 100% the leak isnt external take a peek at tha back off the engine under the car near where you see the exhurst pops out and see if the water pump isnt leaking ... also check the radiator aslo check the carpets and see if there wet try and lift them and check the under side as the water can some times not show on the furry side ...good pllace is up behind the glove box where the carpet begins try and shove ya hand down and feel ...... if ti is the head gasket the job isnt too big a job but it is if the head needs a skim or is craked ...
