    Default Advisory

Took my car in for M.O.T. yesterday.
    04 plate, 2.2 Dti,with 41000miles on the clock.

It passed okay but they issued an advisory stating slight play felt in steering rack. I find this strange with so few miles on the clock and no signs of steering wander when being driven.

What do you think. Should i be concerned.

I wouldn't worry mate. What i suspect the tester has found and may be advising on, is the steering tie rods where they enter the rack, the nylon sockets wear so you get a bit of play (a lot of play and an MOT failure if left mind you), common fault on many cars nowadays. I must advise on at least two cars a week for this

The car is between 4 and 5 years old, that can be enough for some components
If they are unused for long periods they can dry out increasing wear

Fairly common on most modern cars I think mate as posts above, mine is an 05 with 34k and had the same advisory last March.
