Default 1.7 CDTi with CR1 on 21 turns

    Quite simply - wow.

Seen as my car is still not ready (coolant pipe leaking after putting it back together - muppets) I decided to fit the tuning box to the Astra Estate 1.7 CDTi club to see what it goes like. What a difference. I think I'm right in saying that the 1.7 CDTi is 100bhp in standard form, so I'm hoping to be close to a 1.9 CDTi now. That should shock a few people on the way to work tomorrow.

Abyss - you were right about the connector buddy.

We've just lost the contract for all the Leeds and Bradford stores as they are all franchised. Saves me having to go over there now though. Bit of a trek from my house

Right peeps, my views of a 1.7 CDTi with a CR1 on 21 turns.

I have to travel about 5-6 miles to get to the M62 and to be honest I think the standard 100bhp is much better for around town. The car just surges forward with the box on and you can forget about 1st gear. The rev range is very short and the box just makes it seem even shorter.

But on the motorway; what joy! I don't think I had to apply full throttle all the way to work and where I would of dropped it into 4th to accelerate it just took off in 5th. I think it could of done with a 6th gear however. In standard form I think the car was hard work on the motorway but with the box fitted it was a pleasure to drive.

So if they produce a switchable box via the redundant sport switch on the dash you'd get the best of both worlds; a decent economical car around town and a relaxing mile eater on the motorway. Maybe this is something 888 could reproduce with a re-map, then I'd be tempted.

as with the vectra it is 100bhp if the ti on the boot is red but if not its a mere 80 piddly horses. my previous car was aastra sport with this engine and it was as slow as ****.it had to go!
