    Default Doing my own service...



    Im pretty clued up on what to do so no worries there an got a mate thats a mechanic so just in case anything goes wrong ive got him there for backup

    But a few Q's:

    1/ Whats the best oil to use in my mile muncher?
    Its a 06 plate Sri (vvt engine)

    2/ Whats the best spark plugs to get?

    3/ how easy is the pollen filter to change?

    4/ Is there anything elsae i need to do?

    Sparks - a matter of preference really... original Vx from a dealer, especially if you have access to Vx Trade Club (you getmore than 50% off the price on plugs), multi-electrode items, etc etc. Just go for quality ones, not the cheapest you can find.

    Pollen filter - you could do it with your eyes closed. Literally a 50 second job.

    3/ how easy is the pollen filter to change?

    Very very very easy.

    Lif the flat under the bonnet... then un do the clips... be careful not to snap them then plug it back in.

    mc_orion, Can you put together a how to for the sparkplugs on the VVt, something I have been meaning to do but not sure how to swap them out.

    disconnect lead then unscrew the old ones and screw in the new ones then reconnect leads job done

    It is not that easy on my 3.2 V6. Takes about 1 to 2 hours to get to mine and put it all back together again. Good job thet are supposed to last for some 80.000 miles... 10 minutes on the wifes Vectra.

    spark plugs..........only one make worth your money, NGK

    good way to make sure you dont cross thread them when you put them back in, is get a short length of hose pipe and fit onto the end of the plug, that way when you turn the hose by hand, the plug will slip if cross threaded, if it goes in enough, then you can tighten with a correct socket
