    Default mirror assembley change

hi all, i have a 2003 signum.the powerfold motor has gone so bought a new mirror housing (exept color coded cover and mirror), does anyone know if its a simple job to 1.take current cover of the old mirror and put it on the new one and 2. i have been told the door card is pressurised as part of the air bag system and if removed could set off the air bags!sounds onimous to be but want to check.also i used to be on club vs but has now dissapeerd has it merged with this one??thanks

Thats a new one about the door card! I had my door cards of loads of times so I would say its load of tosh.
Should be a simple job to replace the wing mirror I would have thought.
Are you sure that the motor has gone and its not a fuse?

Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?

door cards are easy enough to take off, have a look at the how2 section. Think the other site is down for a while due to problems, it hasn't merged!

definatly the motor you can hear it try to fold , if you pull it towards you it fold with assistance but not on its own, think the worm drive may be also worn, whats the best way to get the card off can see the lugs surrouding the card is it boted anywhere?

Basically you need to remove the mirror glass and you'll see various lugs of the cover attached on the inside. You need to bit by bit prise/release each one to then let you get the cover off. It's a bit of a PITA but if you're careful/methodical then you'll be okay. Several of them are obvious to see - a couple, one especially, are a bit hidden...

That shows one point where you need to push in to release catch, then you have to release prise the other edges off at the same time. Difficult to explain but with that pic you'll see where you start.
