    Default dpf

    ok i have a 57 sri 150 cdti

fitted the dtuk tuning box on map 3 and 20%

car felt great and drove great

then my mate had a shot and when it came back it now belches smoke out the back when the turbo spools up but only under load not at idle

the smoke is only noticable at night in other cars headlights

now my mate got a remap on his fabia vrs and sees the same smoke and is told not to worrk about it from his forum

question is this....why the smoke lol!

shouldnt the dpf take all the smoke away?
is the dpf a comsumable part?
how often does it clean itself out?
how do u know its cleaning itself out?

had the car plugged into a snap on diagnostic machine and it had no faults at all?

your vectra may not have dpf

    i'm sure only Signum/Estate & Auto's have them,

    But i could be wrong

Unless yours is an auto, estate or Signum with that engine it won't have a DPF.

shouldnt the dpf take all the smoke away?

It can only cope with so much. As the box basically chucks in more fuel, it may be generating more smoke than the DPF can deal with.

is the dpf a comsumable part?

Err no, not unless you have a spare £1000 odd.

how often does it clean itself out?

Depends on which software version is installed and how you drive

how do u know its cleaning itself out?

Your consumption goes through the roof and I believe the car then feels sluggish.

Dead easy to see if it cleaning itself, drive for a few days without the box fitted and see how sooty your exhaust is, then drive with it fitted and youll see how much cleaner it is, since fitting my tuning box, my exhaust is still shiny
