Default anyone know what this means

hi all, i've got 2004 2.2 dti ellegance estate, every time i switch on the ignition i get this symbol on the trip computer screen which i confirm on the wiper stalk then never see it again (until i switch ignition on again), i've had a look through the handbook but can't see what it means, i know it's something to do with the alarm/immobilser/door locks, is it normal to get this or is it telling me there's a fault? if it's normal am i able to get rid of the symbol so that it does'nt come on every time i switch on?
thanks in advance.Attachment 16877 above the icon it says 'check safegaurd' sorry you can't see it for the flash.

its check safegaurd meaning you have a fault with your alarm system when you arm your alarm does the red light flash for a few seconds then start to blink or does it stay solid then blink?
Mine use to flash for a few seconds after arming the alarm then blink so i looked at my sensor by roof light made sure it was all plugged in and secure and refitted seems to of cured the problem
Tech2 would find the fault HTH

Common culprit is as bigmac said - the ultrasonic sensor connection up by the roof light getting loosened. Certainly first thing to check.

hi again, just had a look at the motor, all connections to sensors secure and tight, when alarm is set the red light flashes for a short while then goes to a slow 'blink', when locking on the key all indicators flash once then again when the key fob is pressed again, all indicators flash once when unlocking with the key and again when unlocking the passenger doors, when alarm is set and door is unlocked with the key indicators flash and siren sounds as soon as the door is opened, as far as i can see it does everything that it should but when the ignition is switched on i still get 'check safegaurd' on the dash. anyone got any further ideas before i start spending money for someone to hook it upto a code reader?

My last vectra (pre facelift elegance) did this after some body work. turned out to be condensation in the connector for the door located by the hinge. Disconnected and reconnected and fixed the fault

Try putting some tape around bonnet sensor so it holds it down, bonnet sensor is by top of drivers strut then check to see if when armed the red light should be solid then blink
If it still flashes then your problem might lay else where
